It´s really heartening to watch even the tiniest birds break pieces off and carry them away to their brood at this time of the year. Of course, the heftier birds like the ever ready, greedy and squabbling Starlings and the Blackbirds make very short work of them in one gulp.

They look most appetising, but clog up when wet of course, as they sort of merge together then. However, noone is put off and the feasting goes on.
