Q: My bumble bee box is untreated, do i need to put some preserative on it?
A: No. The Bumble Bee Nest Box is made from long lasting durable timber. No treatment is necessary and could even be potentially harmful to bees.
Q: The instructions say I need to find a mouse nest for my box, why is this?
A: Our Bumble Bee Nest Box is supplied 'ready to use' straight from the box, complete with special Kapok nesting material.
However, as with all wildlife queen bumblebees have very exacting standards before choosing a suitable nesting site and there are additional things you can do to increase the liklyhood of success. It is believed bumblebees seek out old mouse nests by 'smell' so if you have access to used hamster or mouse bedding we would recommend adding this material to the nest box. Lots of other useful siting and other tips are included with this product.
