| The
next few pages will help you quickly identify the most likely birds
to visit your garden and then provide you with more information
about them. Details include natural habitats, calls, breeding cycles
and preferred foods.
Currently, we have only included the most common garden birds (30
bird species visiting feeders in a garden is not uncommon) so if
you can't see your bird in this section, you may need
to refer to more comprehensive resources - try the RSPB
AtoZ or BBC/nature.
If
you have a growing interest in birds you shouldn't be without a
good bird identification book. We like the Collins books for reference
and Readers Digest and AA books for more general information and
interest.
Once
you have found your bird, you can use the information to
provide them with appropriate food, in the right location, create
a better environment in your garden to encourage regular visits
and if you're very lucky, tempt a pair to set up home and breed,
surely the highest compliment for your efforts!
Finally,
at the foot of each page is a list of foods, feeding locations and
nest sites that you might like to consider incorporating in your
garden.
Identification
We have to assume that you are already familiar with the two birds
in our start point - the [not so] common House Sparrow and [ever
popular] Blackbird.
Now
let's identify that bird!
