Who’s Watching Who?

I have a moth trap in my garden and each morning it feels like Christmas as you never know what you may find inside the box.

One particular morning I had the usual small moths and then turned the egg carton over and was confronted by this beautiful Elephant Hawk Moth. I must admit I was scared as I wasn’t sure how I was going to remove it from the egg carton as it is quite large compared to most moths. So, I placed my trusty teaspoon under his body to which he clamped onto tightly. I then placed it on an old, dead piece of wood, took the photo and then placed the wood and my new friend in a shady place out the way of the birds. There he stayed until nightfall when once again he took to the skies.
