Fine oystershell grit can be added to feed mixes in the springtime to provide the extra calcium birds need when producing eggs. It is also suitable for chickens, cage and aviary birds.
Organic gardeners also sprinkle piles of oystershell grit around the base of plants, as a barrier slug and snail deterrent.
