This attractive bat box design is mounted on an external wall and has a single narrow cavity which makes it suitable for crevice roosting bats such as the common pipistrelle, soprano pipistrelle, Nathusius` pipistrelle, Brandt`s bat and whiskered bat. The internal cavity has a rough interior to provide lots of grip.
Bats need to increase their body temperature before flight so prefer warm roosting spots, which is why many of our bat boxes have a black exterior to absorb heat from the sun.
Woodstone® isn’t just strong, it also has good thermal insulation, reducing temperature fluctuations inside the box and helping to make this an ideal roost site.

Place on either a tree or a building façade. Preferably choose a sunny spot but do not place the box under or in artificial light, and avoid placing where the rain can directly access the box.
To hang the box remove the front section, you can do this by unscrewing the Allen screw. Two holes are pre-drilled in the rear wall of the box, and you can therefore hang the box with the supplied screws. DO NOT tighten the screws too tight, just tighten enough.
Preferably hang several boxes together. When placing in bunkers, cellars, attics and stables, place the boxes as high as possible against the façade or a post, they should be hung at a minimum height of 3 metres.
