Butterfly Food is easy to use and mixed, provides a valuable source of nectar for butterflies, moths and other insects at times when there are few flowers available, or when you wish to attract more to the garden.
The addition of a good quality butterfly habitat may also tempt them to over winter in the garden and then the butterfly food provides an essential source of nectar in early spring and late autumn when natural food sources may be in short supply.
The mix is easy to prepare by mixing 1 rounded teaspoon in 100ml of water and can be used with butterfly feeders or presented in a shallow dish. The special solution has been formulated to ensure the sugars don`t crystallise in the stomach of the insect, which can be a risk with refined sugar solutions.
Unused mixed solution can be stored for up to 7 days in a refrigerator.
Site:
In Butterfly Box or in feeding areas or other chosen site which should be warm and sheltered near appropriate host plants. Proximity to a wet area or pond is also an advantage.
