Made from solid FSC timber, our Dewdrop Butterfly and Moth Habitat provides a safe over-wintering habitat for both butterflies and moths. The separate Butterfly Nectar feeder can be filled with the butterfly food, ideal for attracting butterflies and also bees, hoverflies and other nectar feeding insects.
Although the main habitat will be used for roosting and hibernating, the opening rear allows for the insertion of flower attractants such as buddleia.
The following may also use the house for hibernating: Small Tortoiseshell, Peacock (often found in sheds and outbuildings) and the Comma butterfly. Additionally if nectar is available, the feeder may help Bumblebees survive in early spring. Less commonly the Silver Winged Fritillary may use the box to lay eggs (preferably sited in mature trees). The chrysalis could be formed on the roof or internal branches.
The whole pack consists of butterfly habitat, butterfly nectar feeder, butterfly attractant/food, full colour guide to British butterflies and butterfly attracting wildflower seeds and planting guide.
