An excellent replacement for lost tree hollows that robins use to nest
What is it?
Our open fronted rustic nest box is just what robins like as a nesting location. Thick wood, open front for easy access and a deep nesting chamber. It can be mounted about a metre above ground, ideally in dense foliage behind a shrub or deep in borders.
How does it help?
Robins like to nest low to the ground in a spot where they can see all around them for danger. This nest box replicates the hollow of a tree bough that are typical nesting locations of robins. This nest box is made from untreated UK FSC larch wood and can be expected to last many years. Some customers may choose to give the nest box an exterior coat of ‘animal safe’ wood preservative or even paint it to fit in the garden.
The Open Fronted Robin Nest Box has a mounting panel on the rear of the box to allow fixing to a fence, building or tree.

Sean says: “I love the chunky rustic charm of this open nest box. It fits in well in gardens planted with trees, shrubs and flower borders, exactly the type of gardens robins choose to live in. It’s made by Wildlife and Birdcare CIC, a ‘not for profit’ organisation who use British managed forestry timber to build wildlife habitats. The unique part is they are all hand-made by people with learning difficulties, so each piece is personal and is as good for the people building it, as it is for our wildlife and the environment.”
Wildlife and Birdcare CIC products are built in the UK from designs by leading charities. This bird nest box is a design approved by the British Trust for Ornithology and constructed by a NOT FOR PROFIT enterprise employing people with learning disabilities.
