Swifts are uniquely adapted to life on the wing. They hunt flying insects, often in screeching flocks, and can remain in the air for long periods without landing. They prefer small colonies. Installation of several units will assist the rapid formation of swift colonies.
Siting & Positioning:
At least 6 to 7 m above the ground. Please ensure unobstructed access for birds entering and leaving the box. High up on external walls under eaves of buildings of all kinds, including churches and industrial buildings, preferably under the shelter of eaves or overhanging roofs. Can also be successfully installed on steep rock faces. A clear distance (drop) below the box is recommended, preferably 5 m or more. Please install in sheltered placed under overhanging roofs.
Cleaning and Inspection: The entire nest can be removed from the frame. When it is replaced the nest is locked back into position using the angled nails.
