This Barn Owl nest box is constructed from exterior grade plywood and is triangular in shape with a large exercise platform for emerging chicks to stand and rest in the early stages of the fledging process.
The box should be installed on a tree in open farmland, on an isolated hedgerow or along the edge of a woodland. It is more likely to be occupied if the entrance hole is clearly visible. Also, erecting two barn owl boxes in close proximity to each other can help by providing accommodation for the male during the breeding season.
Siting:
To install this box the triangular shell should first be secured to the tree using large bolts or similar strong fixings (not supplied) due to the weight of the item. The front panel shelf can then be screwed on to the main body of the nest box.
