If you are fortunate enough to live in an area with red squirrels then providing a nest box can be extremely helpful to this species and will provide a warm place for them to raise their young. Squirrels may also use boxes in the winter for shelter, often sharing with other related individuals.
This plywood house has been designed with a wide hole so squirrels can take their young into the house easily and safely. The platform around the middle of the house allows easier access for squirrels, especially the juveniles who will use the platform to help them come and go from the house with ease.
Breeding red squirrels are protected under the Wildlife & Countryside Act, so an occupied nest box may only be inspected by a licensed worker.
