This natural and attractive Bat Box will fit into any garden, woodland or house wall site. It is made from high quality durable timber providing longevity and excellent insulation. Bats need new habitats as many of their traditional roosts have been lost over recent years. The narrow entrance slot and strong timber help to discourage predators.

New buildings often require the provision of bat boxes/roosts.

Siting and Positioning:
Position this bat box on a builing or mature tree using the pre-drilled back plate hanger. It should be sited high up between 2.5m and 5m. Place the box so it recieves only part sun during the day North, South West or South East. If it is on an existing feeding or flight route you are more likely to get occupation.

Occupants:
This single chamber bat box will provide suitable accommodation for a variety of species including Pippistrelle, Noctule, Leisler`s, Natterer`s, Daubentons and Brown Long-eared bats.

Q: How can I tell if my bat box is occupied?
A: Check for mouse-sized droppings beneath the box. Try observing from a distance at dusk to see if bats are exiting the box to hunt.
Q: Where can I put my new bat box?
A: The Natural Timber Bat Box is equally at home on a house wall as it is in a tree. Mount it at least 2m off the ground and ideally between 4m-6m. It can also be placed directly under the eaves of a house or under a major bough of a mature tree.In order that it receives only part sun during the day, pop it in a North, South West or South East direction. If it is on an existing feeding or flight route a new inhabitant is more likely take up residence.
Q: When should I sow the seeds?
A: You can sow the seeds at any time  of the year, providing the plants are kept well watered.  For the best results sow them in the spring or early autumn.
