A well-designed pond is a magnet for wildlife, bringing your garden to life with an array of fascinating creatures. From graceful fish to playful frogs, buzzing dragonflies to curious birds, a pond creates a rich, interconnected world right in your garden.

A home for all

While fish like goldfish and koi and frogs and toads are popular pond inhabitants, the benefits extend far beyond. They are also a fantastic food and water source for other wildlife. Water-dwelling insects thrive in ponds and are a great natural food source for birds. As well as this, birds and mammals can use ponds to bathe and drink.

Why choose Ark Wildlife?

At Ark Wildlife, we understand the delicate balance of a healthy pond ecosystem. The pond care products in our collection are made up of entirely natural formulations, so that you can maintain your pond without sacrificing the wellbeing of the creatures that call it home. All of the pond wildlife and fish food we source is carefully formulated to be suitable for all types of pond fish and wildlife, offering a healthy and balanced diet that meets all of their nutritional needs.

Getting the most out of your pond

As ponds can support a wide range of creatures, it’s important to take into account how you can make your pond as inviting as possible for all creatures, great and small. Offer a variety of foods suited to different species, and don't forget to provide shelter. Frog and toad houses offer safe retreats from predators. Regular maintenance is key to a healthy pond. Keep an eye out for invasive plants like duckweed and algae. With a bit of care and attention, your pond will become more than just a water feature, but a vibrant, ever-changing display of nature's wonders.

Q: What food do tadpoles eat?

A: Tadpoles feed off the algae in the pods they grow in, eventually feeding on plants and small insects as they grow. If food is scarce, they will sometimes even eat other tadpoles!

Q: How long can pond fish go without food?

A: The majority of UK pond fish can survive for 2 weeks without supplementary food.

Q: How often should I clean my pond?

A; A wildlife pond should not be cleaned regularly as cleaning out a pond can seriously disrupt its natural ecosystem. Use preventative measures such as netting to stop leaf detritus getting in to the pond as well as water and anti-algae treatments.

Q: What does a frog and toad house do?

A: A frog or toad house provides a safe space for the frogs and toads in your garden to hide from predators and the elements.
