About

Details

What is it?
Our Hedgehog Bedding is full of soft air-dried hay with just the right quantity to fill your hedgehog house bedding area.

How does it help?
Hedgehogs need bedding for insulation in the cooler winter months, which in modern gardens can be difficult for hedgehogs to source. Our hedgehog bedding acts as a supplement to the materials they find naturally. You can expect to see your garden hedgehogs drag extra bedding material into their hedgehog houses such as grass and dried leaves, however it is good to know that you’ve given them a cosy start.

Sean says:
"More and more often I find plastic bags, rubber bands and all sorts of dangerous rubbish in the hedgehog nests I find. Litter really can be a hazard to both adults and especially their young. Hedgehogs are very resourceful but we can easily make their lives comfortable and safer by providing appropriate products."

Specifications

Bag approximately 300mm x 360mm in size with sufficient hay to fill the nesting chamber of any of our Hedgehog Houses.

Q: Do I always need to put bedding in a hedgehog house before I put it out in the garden?

A: It's not absolutely necessary, as the hogs will drag in their own bedding as required, however it's nice to know that you've given them a start.

Q: Why is hay more suitable than straw for use as hedgehog bedding?

A: Hay is made from soft grass, which the hogs will naturally collect for bedding.  Straw is hard and brittle which can splinter into sharp edges.
