Where should I place a Blackbird nest box?

Blackbird nest boxes should be placed low down, usually below 2 metres, in a quiet and sheltered spot hidden amongst plants or shrubs.

Do blackbirds use traditional bird boxes?

Not usually. Blackbirds prefer open-fronted nest boxes rather than enclosed boxes with small entrance holes.

When should I clean a Blackbird nest box?

Cleaning nest boxes between October to November is ideal, once birds have vacated, and the legal window opens.
