Q: How much food does a squirrel store for winter?

A: Gathering food throughout the Autumn, squirrels can store several thousand nuts and and berries, although they may only find around half of them.

Q: What is the best food to feed a squirrel?

A: Nut mixes are great for squirrels as they provide a vital source of vitamins and minerals. You can also add fruit such as apple and even carrot.

Q: How much food does a squirrel need daily?

A: Grey squirrels can eat anywhere between 40-80g of food a day, equalling roughly 10% of their body weight. Red squirrels eat around 18g a day.

Q: Does a baby squirrel need different food?

A: Up until the age of 6 weeks, baby squirrels will live off their mother’s milk. From then on they will begin nibbling on some solid foods, but will still need their mother’s milk to help them grow.
