What is it?
Our Natural Timber Bat Box is from the UK’s leading bat box supplier, made from high-quality durable timber for excellent insulation and longevity. This natural and attractive bat box will fit nicely into any garden or house wall site and provides a cosy place for bats to roost. Simply screw onto a tree or wall for an easy and effective bat hiding space.

How does it help?
We are proud to support wildlife conservation across all types of species. Over recent years, traditional roosts have been lost so bats are in need of new habitats and shelter. Our bat boxes also include a narrow entrance slot to help discourage predators — providing additional safety.

Sean says:
“I`ve been selling the natural timber bat box for over 20-years and it`s never lost its appeal. I put one up in my old house and whenever I return to the village I can see it`s still up there in the eaves, over a decade later. It makes me smile to think of all the generations of bats, living in the same space I once occupied."

Siting and Positioning:
Position this bat box on a builing or mature tree using the pre-drilled back plate hanger. It should be sited high up between 2.5m and 5m. Place the box so it recieves only part sun during the day North, South West or South East. If it is on an existing feeding or flight route you are more likely to get occupation.

Occupants:
This single chamber bat box will provide suitable accommodation for a variety of species including Pippistrelle, Noctule, Leisler`s, Natterer`s, Daubentons and Brown Long-eared bats.

Material:
Made from durable, high quality durable timber.

Helpful – Caring – Responsible

When Sean McMenemy started Noah’s Ark Wildlife Gardens as a landscaping business back in 1991, little did he know what a huge impact he was to make on the bird feeding and garden wildlife industries over the following decades.

Over 30-years later he still brings the same passion for garden wildlife to work every day, so it’s no wonder we’re so highly respected. Our expertise lies in providing carefully selected natural food and products that offer significant benefits to wildlife – with the type of customer service only true enthusiasm for our subject can bring.

Meeting a demand for natural, nutritious wildlife food

In those early days, Sean constantly received requests for help in making his clients’ natural gardens more wildlife friendly. Requests for bird food encouraged Sean to research bird feeding, and at that time he found problems in the market with quality and service. He knew then the only way forward was to create his own natural, nutritious range of wildlife food and present it in a way which benefited both the wildlife and the customer. Ark Wildlife was born.

The company has steadily grown since those early days, now standing as one of the UK’s largest independent suppliers of bird food and garden wildlife products, despatching over 500 parcels per day across the United Kingdom.

Exceptional service, because we care more than we can put into words

No matter how large our business is now, Ark Wildlife aims to combine the convenience of an online mail order outlet with the caring, helpful touch of a specialist shop. Our people make the difference. We take great pride in the energy, commitment and enthusiasm of our ever-growing workforce, still led by our inspirational driving force, Sean. If you read through some of Sean’s blog posts you will see how knowledgeable he is and how much he cares for the welfare of our wildlife.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I put my new bat box?

The Natural Timber Bat Box is equally at home on a house wall as it is in a tree. Mount it at least 2m off the ground and ideally between 4m-6m. Directly under the eaves of a house or under a major bough of a mature tree.

Should I site one bat box on its own?

Ideally, put up two or three boxes facing in different directions to provide a range of temperature conditions. ie boxes facing from south-east to south-west allow the sun to fall on each box for part of the day. During very hot days a south-facing box may overheat, but the other boxes should have some shade.
