This pack of cardboard Mason Bee Nesting Tubes are specifically designed for solitary species such as the Red Mason and leafcutter bees. The sustainable case can be mounted on any south facing tree, wall or fence. We also supply a purpose built mason bee nest box, otherwise the tubes can be removed and used as replacement refills for any existing bee houses.

Solitary (non-stinging) Red Mason Bees are excellent garden and orchard pollinators and are a species that are under threat and in need of our help.

Simply place in the garden facing due south, in full sun and pointing slightly downward, the nesting cylinders could be active from late March until late August and used tubes should be placed in a frost free garage or shed during the winter months.

Q: Can you tell me what material these are made from and if I would be able to cut them to fit in my existing nester?
A: These are made from strong cardboard and can be cut through, using a stanley knife, to the correct length required.
Q: Do I need to add leaves or pollen in the bee tubes or do the bees do this?
A: All you need do is make sure the back of the tubes are tight against a solid surface or blocked off in some way and mount them on a south facing wall or in an orchard (depending on species). The bees will collect the nectar, leaves and mud themselves and it's fascinating watching them work.
