About

Details

The Ark Dormouse House is made from long lasting natural timber with excellent insulating properties. The entrance hole should be installed facing the trunk. The top and bottom wooden bars keep the access hole free and allow the dormouse access from the trunk of the tree, the dormouse`s preferred route.

Mount the dormouse house approximately 1.5m off the ground in hazel coppices where dormice are known to frequent. Loss of natural habitat and nesting places is driving the dormouse into ever closer proximity to humans and our gardens and urban areas can be made more accomodating to these endearing little creatures.

Q: Can the Dormouse House be opened to inspect inside?

A: These houses can be opened to inspect if any creatures have moved in. On the roof of the house are 2 aluminium hooks, these can be twisted round so they are in line with the small cut out in the wood. The lid can then be pulled up and completely removed. It may need a bit of a wiggle the first time you do this.
