Duckweed is almost impossible to remove and it grows back amazingly quickly. After manually removing as much of the existing weed as you can - the application of this treatment seriously inhibits its return.

Best applied in Spring as soon as any duckweed growth is evident. Continuing applications throughout summer and early autumn helps prevent spore formation which can lead to new growth the following spring.

This is 100% natural biological control and no herbicides or pesticides are used in the manufacture of Duckweed Control.

Dosage:
25ml per 450 litres initial dose 10ml per 450 litres weekly until duckweed disappears

Shake the bottle well before use

This product is best applied in Spring and Summer once the water temperature is above 8°C.

Manually remove as much of the existing weed as possible before applying the first treatment. To fill the dosage chamber, remove the cap and gently squeeze the bottle until the required amount has entered the chamber. Add to a bucket or watering can and mix well. Distribute as evenly as possible over the surface of the pond

Helpful – Caring – Responsible

When Sean McMenemy started Noah’s Ark Wildlife Gardens as a landscaping business back in 1991, little did he know what a huge impact he was to make on the bird feeding and garden wildlife industries over the following decades.

Over 30-years later he still brings the same passion for garden wildlife to work every day, so it’s no wonder we’re so highly respected. Our expertise lies in providing carefully selected natural food and products that offer significant benefits to wildlife – with the type of customer service only true enthusiasm for our subject can bring.

Meeting a demand for natural, nutritious wildlife food

In those early days, Sean constantly received requests for help in making his clients’ natural gardens more wildlife friendly. Requests for bird food encouraged Sean to research bird feeding, and at that time he found problems in the market with quality and service. He knew then the only way forward was to create his own natural, nutritious range of wildlife food and present it in a way which benefited both the wildlife and the customer. Ark Wildlife was born.

The company has steadily grown since those early days, now standing as one of the UK’s largest independent suppliers of bird food and garden wildlife products, despatching over 500 parcels per day across the United Kingdom.

Exceptional service, because we care more than we can put into words

No matter how large our business is now, Ark Wildlife aims to combine the convenience of an online mail order outlet with the caring, helpful touch of a specialist shop. Our people make the difference. We take great pride in the energy, commitment and enthusiasm of our ever-growing workforce, still led by our inspirational driving force, Sean. If you read through some of Sean’s blog posts you will see how knowledgeable he is and how much he cares for the welfare of our wildlife.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: When should I use Duckweed Control?

A: Duckweed Control is best applied in Spring as soon as duckweed growth is seen, but once the pond water temperature has reached eight degrees to ensure effective microbial activity.  However, it can be successfully applied right through the summer and early autumn (whilst temperature remains at 8-10 degrees) and this will prevent spore formation which otherwise leads to further duckweed growth the following Spring.

Q: What happens if I add more than the recommended dose?

A: As Extract of Barley Straw is a completely natural product, no harm will be caused by adding more than the guidelines recommend - it may even kill off the algae more quickly.

Q: I have been following the instructions fully and after 3 weeks my pond has still not cleared, what can I do?

A: The best thing is to be persistent and continue with the treatment and perhaps increase the quantity of liquid you use.  Exceptional heat will cause algae to grow much quicker.  Ensure the pond has enough oxygenating plants.  It may be necessary to remove dead plant material from the bottom of the pond.
