What is it?
Our Ark Wood Bird Nest Boxes are one of our bestselling bird boxes and are ideal for gardens of all sizes. They are manufactured from 18mm thick dried timber for a strong and sturdy finish. Plus, they have hinged sides which makes nest box cleaning and inspection easy.

How does it help?
Adding an attractive nesting box to your garden will encourage wild birds to stake their claim for a new home. Different species of birds enjoy different types of nesting homes, which is why we offer this nest box in two designs: 28mm and 32mm entrance holes — opening the doors to a variety of species from blue tits to house sparrows.

Siting and Positioning:
It is suitable for siting on house walls, trees and even deep in shrubs and ivy clad walls. They are quickly adopted in the right location and will give you and your birds years of reliable service.

Cleaning and Inspection:
To inspect and clean these nest boxes the right side panel lifts up. By twisting the metal key and pulling out the side panel up. Cleaning should be done between breeding seasons.

Frequently Asked Questions

My blue tits don't seem able to fit in through the hole is this right?

The blue tits will be able to fit in through the opening and indeed will nest in the smallest hole they can find. They do this as security for the nest.

When should I put up my nest boxes?

We would recommend putting your Nest Boxes up in the Autumn. This gives the birds plenty of time to investigate and become familiar with them ahead of the breeding season.

Will putting a feeder near a nest Box help to attract birds to the nest?

It would be unwise to place a feeder close to a nest box. We recommend keeping the two a good distance apart as birds visiting the feeder would be likely to disturb any nesting residents who will instinctively defend the nest which would waste time better spent on raising their young.
