What is it?
This ground feeder cage is designed to protect birds (and their dinner) from potential predators. The different mesh sizes guard against cats, larger birds and squirrels.

How does it help?
It can be frustrating when squirrels steal all of your bird food, but what’s more upsetting is when larger birds and cats chase birds away from their meal. Our strong powder-coated steel ground feeder cage protects smaller birds and their food from potential danger or greedy squirrels!

The large mesh option deters cats and larger birds whilst allowing access to blackbirds and similar size species. The smaller mesh option protects against cats, medium to large birds and most squirrels.

Q: I would like to feed the blackbirds still but exclude the starlings, can I do this?

A: No, unfortunately if you wish to exclude the starlings you need to use the small mesh cage which will also exclude the blackbirds. Additionally - even the small mesh cage is not 100% effective at stopping starlings - especially juveniles that have not reached maturity.

Q: Will the Ground Feeder Cage stop squirrels eating my bird food?

A: No, squirrels can easily enter the large mesh ground feeder and small or baby squirrels can squeeze into the small mesh ground feeder. We do not recommend this product for squirrel control.

Q: Do the Ground Feeding Cages come with pegs?

A: Both the large and small mesh cages do come with 4 pegs to hold the cage in place during strong winds.  These are made of the same powder-coated steel.
