Wild birds like all sorts of different seeds and nuts and all birds know what’s good for them. This is why we recommend offering a variety of high quality foods such as Ark Premium Wild Bird Food which do not contain cheap fillers.

At Ark Wildlife all our foods are of the best quality available, blended by our own nutritionists to our exacting standards, high in calories, and 100% natural and nutritionally beneficial for your garden birds.

Some of the most common seeds found in wild bird food include sunflower seeds, millet, canary seed, hemp, thistle seed, wheat and dari. All can be beneficial to wild birds in the right proportions but inexpert mixing tends to lean toward the cheaper seeds, resulting in poorly balanced seed mixes that may be attractive to look at and in price, but are inferior for your birds’ wellbeing.

Seeds such as sunflower and millet are often grown in the UK and many companies emphasise this as a benefit. However, our climate is at the far north of these crops` limit and often our mixed weather can result in poor and substandard crops. Wherever possible Ark Wildlife source ingredients from British farms for our wild bird food, but only if they pass our stringent quality standards.

Wild birds are opportunistic feeders and will eat seed and nuts because they are available, but that doesn’t mean they’re necessarily good for them. They may just be eating seeds because that’s all they can find. Many of the ingredients in bird food; wild birds would never see in the wild. Sunflower hearts and maize come from hot countries and peanuts grow underground. Therefore it’s vitally important to understand the nutritional relationship offered by these ingredients and how we balance this with the natural diet of our native British wild birds.

Helpful – Caring – Responsible

When Sean McMenemy started Noah’s Ark Wildlife Gardens as a landscaping business back in 1991, little did he know what a huge impact he was to make on the bird feeding and garden wildlife industries over the following decades.

Over 30-years later he still brings the same passion for garden wildlife to work every day, so it’s no wonder we’re so highly respected. Our expertise lies in providing carefully selected natural food and products that offer significant benefits to wildlife – with the type of customer service only true enthusiasm for our subject can bring.

Meeting a demand for natural, nutritious wildlife food

In those early days, Sean constantly received requests for help in making his clients’ natural gardens more wildlife friendly. Requests for bird food encouraged Sean to research bird feeding, and at that time he found problems in the market with quality and service. He knew then the only way forward was to create his own natural, nutritious range of wildlife food and present it in a way which benefited both the wildlife and the customer. Ark Wildlife was born.

The company has steadily grown since those early days, now standing as one of the UK’s largest independent suppliers of bird food and garden wildlife products, despatching over 500 parcels per day across the United Kingdom.

Exceptional service, because we care more than we can put into words

No matter how large our business is now, Ark Wildlife aims to combine the convenience of an online mail order outlet with the caring, helpful touch of a specialist shop. Our people make the difference. We take great pride in the energy, commitment and enthusiasm of our ever-growing workforce, still led by our inspirational driving force, Sean. If you read through some of Sean’s blog posts you will see how knowledgeable he is and how much he cares for the welfare of our wildlife.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the best place to feed this mix from?

This superior blend of 12 seeds is a perfect mix for all the birds visiting your garden bird tables and ground feeders. Packed with a variety of seeds.

My birds sometimes leave the smaller seeds from this mix.  Why is this?

The smaller seeds in the Ark Premium Wild Bird Mix are what we call 'Tonic Seeds', these seeds offer micro-nutrients that the birds seek only when they feel it is required.

What is the difference between the Ark Premium Wild Bird Food and the Ark Classic Wild Bird Food?

The Premium food contains a much higher content of sunflower seeds, for their oil content, and less wheat.
