It will fully close at 6oz/170g, shutting out the squirrels and larger birds. The spring tension may vary depending on outside temperature.

The weight activated control CANNOT be adjusted on this feeder. The Finch variety has a generous 8 places for feeding. Four ports lower down on the feeder and additional small slits further up where the birds can cling for access.
